Welcome to my website. My name is Dave Davies, I'm a counsellor working in private practice in Devon. I offer sessions to adults in Kingsbridge and Totnes.
Counselling can mean different things to different people. I see counselling as a being a safe, emphatic
space to explore whatever is going on for you. My role is to support you in that process and help you to identify and work with your strengths and resources to meet the challenges you are facing. Some of the issues that I work with clients on include depression, anxiety, bereavement, loss, sexual issues, ageing, dealing with difficult emotions, abuse, trauma, PTSD, OCD, family relationships and low self esteem.
I believe that it is important to find the right counsellor for you, someone that you feel comfortable with and that can offer an appropriate therapeutic approach for your needs. I am a warm and down to earth person and offer a solid, professional and trusting relationship as the corner stone of my counselling work. You can see more information about how I work, my background, where I work and contact details on the links above. If you feel that you might like to arrange an introductory session or to see how I may help, please call or email and we can take it from there.
My experience includes working as an agency counsellor and in community mental health for Mind. I am also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. The BACP has professional guidelines for counsellors and psychotherapists on working ethically and safely with clients which can be seen here. This is the ethical framework that I work within.
